Issei, Nisei, Sansei,...
Issei, Nisei, Sansei,… an installation at the Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) in Washington, DC. shows the progression of three generations of a Japanese American family. Viewers walk over a glass covered path and through three successive doorways representing a traditional Japanese house, a wartime Internment camp barracks, and an aluminum-sided American home. The interior space is composed of several sculptures commenting on the artist's Japanese American experiences.
